The Pahtakoski Sami Hut is 51.9 km north of Rovaniemi, by Meltausjoki. The log-built hut is surrounded by massive trees on the beautiful riverside. It features a fireplace and benches against the walls. There is a campfire site outside, with a log frame that serves as benches. There is a woodshed and outhouse nearby.
Directions: drive 2.6 km out of the city centre of Rovaniemi along Sodankyläntie; take the ramp off the highway and turn left on Ounasjoen itäpuolentie; drive 56.4 km to Meltaus; turn right on Unarintie; drive 12.5 km; turn right on Meltausjoentie; drive 7.1 km; at the signpost, turn left on the forest road; drive 1.1 km; from which to walk turn right on the winter road track; drive 1.4 km and follow the trail the rest of the way to the hut (250 m).
